Time to design your own website - and now the fun really begins!
After the stresses and strains of researching, brainstorming, planning and registering your domain name - you can finally get into sitebuilding mode!
How can you design your own website?
Now - I am not a website designer. I am a website builder - or publisher, if you like. Photoshop drives me mad, and writing all my own code to put together even a simple site like this would take me a lifetime.
Take a close look at what's on this page
there's a header at the top of the page - that's the image with your logo/site name and maybe images or photos if you want them
there's a navigation bar to the left, which links you to the major sections of the site
there's a social bookmarking box and a box with copyright info etc at the bottom of every page
All very simple so far you might think. But take a look at the code for this page.
At the top of your browser, click View --> Page Source
Who wrote that code? Not me! No - I just don't have time to fiddle around with complicated HTML or CSS, and checking that everything works in every browser.
All I want to do is type in my text and get that page up on the web.
My advice: start by using a good website builder
If you're new to website building, using a website building program that's part of your package is a really good idea -
this way, you can start your site without getting bogged down in technical details
you can make use of free templates, including graphics for your header or logo at the top of your website
When you're used to the process, you can then spread your wings a little and start experimenting with the design of your site.
You'll notice a mixture of simple templates, some of them customized more than others, as well as totally original graphic and web page layout designs.
A good website builder will allow you to rely on it for simple design using pre-built templates, or upload your own totally unique design if you want to create your own website from scratch yourself.
