It's a two way thing; they'll come to your site to find out stuff, solve a problem, grab a review or read about someone else's experience.

And you? Well, you'll build up your visitors, and start to implement your income strategies - providing links and/or ads that your vistors are interested in.

You help them - they help you!

And all the while, your website grows, and you learn more, and your "home on the web" becomes something you're proud of.
